Blogger Recognition Award

A few weeks ago Vinny from Artsy Draft nominated me for Blogger Recognition Award and finally I got around to write a post about it. First I would like to say thanks to Vinny for this nomination and invite you all to check out her blog, where she writes mostly about books and movies, but also about other things.

How my blog came to be?

I have been thinking about starting a blog for years. It started at some point in high school, but I was always kind of worried if it will be good enough and what other people, especially those around me will think. And then one evening in July I had enough of my fears and just started. I wrote 3 posts in one evening, and after a little while I shared it with some of my friends to see what they think about it. The feedback I got from them was great and I then decided to make Twitter account and also share a bit about my blogging on Instagram. I have never thought that blogging community is so supportive, especially on Twitter. It is amazing how complete strangers can be supportive, maybe if I knew that before I would have started blogging way earlier.

1. Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle

You have just started, still searching for the perfect posting timing, how to promote your blog and building an audience. You are working hard but the numbers of views don’t show that. Yet. All those big shot bloggers who you look up to started just where you are now at the beginning, at zero. They worked, learned, failed, promoted, build an audience, spend countless hours creating their own brand. Don’t let the numbers define your blog. Just write for yourself and create the best possible content you can.

2. Start

Create that blog you have been thinking about for months now. Write that post. Delete that draft that didn’t turned out as you wanted to. Send link to your blog to your friends and ask for feedback. Write down when some idea pops in your mind and then develop it. Promote it on social media. I still haven’t started promoting it on Facebook. I don’t really know why, maybe I don’t feel confident enough for everyone I know to see it, but I am slowly getting there. Connect with fellow bloggers and be supportive. Comment and like on their posts and their social media. The sooner you start the sooner you will get to be part of this amazing blogger community.

  1. Great post, I really liked the advice you gave, especially the comparing yourself to other bloggers! Thats so important not to do, but i find myself doing it so often although I’m trying to work on it! xx
