Winter in Lake Bled

I’ve been neglecting my blog this month, mostly because I just didn’t feel like writing and what I did write didn’t feel good enough, but as month is coming to an end I wanted to publish something and what could be better than some photos from one of the most popular and beautiful locations in Slovenia.

Lake Bled is one of those places that probably looks incredibly wonderful in all seasons. Two years ago we went there for my boyfriend’s birthday, which is in summer and now we went a day before mine in winter. Luckily a few days before we had some snow, but a lot less than I expected, so I will need to re-do this trip, because I really want to see this place all covered in white snow and lake completely frozen. Still I can’t deny how beautiful this place is. What makes this lake really stand out is definitely a tiny island with a Gothic church where a temple of the ancient Slavic goddess of love Živa used to stand.

There are lots of things you can do in Bled, even in winter time, but for this trip alone we just walked around the lake and enjoyed the views. Two years ago we took a traditional pletna boat to the island and took ride on the sledding track which was so much fun. But I would leave this for another post. Here are the photos from our winter trip to Lake Bled!

Have you visited Bled or is it still on your list? It is definitely a place I want to visit again in all seasons.

  1. Wow! This looks insane! You always see so many pics of this place in summer with perfect blue skies and everything looking so ‘summery’, but seeing these pictures (which are amazing btw, congrats on that) makes me want to go in the winter instead (and I’m usually all about the summer!) x

    1. Thank you so much! I really love how they turned out, all moody and grey. It definitely gives you a whole another feeling of the place and it was so peaceful. When I was there in summer it was really crowded. Hope you will get to visit it!

  2. It looks absolutely stunning ! I was supposed to go there with a friend but we ended up not having enough time, so it’s definitely still on my list. I hope you get to see it all more snowy and frozen then, that’ll be another incredible experience I bet. x

    1. Really? I just read a research about tourism in Slovenia and it said that Bled is the most popular destination and it happens that people know about Bled but don’t know that it is in Slovenia. 🙂 Bled is truly stunning and there is so much to see also around the town.

  3. Oh these pictures look like they just came straight out of movie, how gorgeous! The winter usually stops me from exploring as much, but this just shows that the sights are just as beautiful, thanks for sharing! ✨

    1. Aww…thank you so much Alisha Valerie! There are quite some places in Slovenia where you will be able to recharge. The best thing about it is that you can go from mountains to coast in just 2 hours. 🙂

  6. My absolute favourite place! I didn’t think it was possible but it looks even more beautiful in winter! Maybe next time I go will have to be in the winter time.
