Spring is my favourite season. Nature is starting to wake up, sun is shining, days are getting longer and warmer and flowers are starting to bloom, which turns city into this colourful fairytale that smells so wonderfully. I first noticed that spring smells nice in city three years ago in Copenhagen. We went there on a Erasmus traineeship and the winter was though, dark, cold and quite windy. So when the spring started in late April I fell in love with the city. I still remember this day like it was yesterday. My boyfriend had to work on a Saturday (the very first beautiful Saturday during our time there) and I didn’t want to miss the day staying in so I biked to Nyhavn and just walked around soaking in all the sun and energy that was so different than days before. You could feel it in the air and when trees started blooming the city smelled like perfume. Or maybe I was just so much in love with the city from there on…
Since then I started to appreciate spring much more. It is start of something new and wonderful and the next year I saw Ljubljana in spring in a whole new perspective. I always loved Ljubljana, but after Copenhagen I started noticing little things that made it special and still try to find new spots that excite me and after winter there are always so many new things that it feels like I am in the whole new city. Blooming trees, flowers, ice cream by Ljubljanica river and new season of Open Kitchen food market is what makes Ljubljana so wonderful in spring. I am so happy that spring started early this year and all February was just so nice and warm and then March brought all these flowers back to life and turned the city into pink fairytale.
At the first Open Kitchen food market this year I found my new favourite food and that is poke bowl from TINK Superfood Café, newly opened place with 80 per cent of healthy food and 20 per cent of soul food and that poke bowl with salmon was just that, so perfect and colourful and fresh. I can imagine having that for lunch on a hot summer day when you want something light but still fulfilling. Doesn’t that just looks yummy? Plus after finishing this bowl you will still have enough space in your tummy for some refreshing ice cream.
I am so excited for everything that April is going to bring and the fact that I can wear my leather jacket again. Now I just need to get some sun glasses to be able to enjoy all those sunny days that are waiting for me.

I like seeing everything come back to life with colors. And my birthday is in late April.

Me too, after dark and quite dull winter it is so nice to see nature waking up again. Spring birthdays sounds so amazing to me. Mine is in January and I always wish I could move to Australia for that. 🙂

Your spring pictures from Ljubljana make me want to come back and see the city in a different season! & of course would love to meet you! My small town in England is slowly starting to bloom- I need to get out around the town and take some pictures soon 🙂

That would be so amazing! Maybe we will meet somewhere in between England and Slovenia. 🙂 You should definitely take photos of all the bloom, it will last for only a few weeks and it would be such pity not to have photos of it.

Lovely photography! And a nice ode to spring altogether. I’ve never appreciated the season much until this year, but after a long, cold winter, it feels like the Earth is opening up and stretching herself out again 🙂

It is interesting how some things affect us and we start to change our perspective on some other things. Spring to me feels like a new beginning. Thank you so much for your comment! Hope you have a wonderful April!

That is a wonderful post and thanks for reminding me that it’s time to get the leather jacket out of the closet 😍 I like when everything becomes green, it was dry and warmer for a while and then it rains. It was like this today and the small of rain can be incredible. After the rain everything shoots out of the ground even more, it’s wonderful and makes you appreciate the small things so much 😊

That is so true. A bit of rain every now and then is only good for the nature to bloom even more. Thank you so much for your comment! Have a nice spring day.

Same here, but without the rain there would be no blooming and all the lush green we love so much, so I try to tolerate the rain if possible. 😀
